WHAT'S ALL THE TALK ABOUT?
ANALOG TO DIGITAL BROADCASTING
The Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 requires television stations to stop broadcasting in analog and to broadcast exclusively in digital after February 17, 2009. If you subscribe to Tele-Media Solutions' Digital TV service or have cable TV or satellite TV, there is nothing that you will need to do to have your television ready for this switch.
If you receive free over-the-air television signals through an antenna and your television is not digital, choosing one of the following options before February 17, 2009 will allow you to receive programming after the change to digital:
Purchase of a television set with a built-in digital tuner;
Purchase of a converter box that will plug into your current TV; or
Subscribing to TMS Digital TV, cable TV or satellite TV.
The Federal government created a TV Converter Box Coupon Program for households wishing to use their analog TVs after the transition date by offering up to two $40 coupons to help pay for the cost of a certified converter box. Go online to www.DTV2009.gov for more information about digital broadcasting and learn how to apply in the coupon program.
