We offer SPAM filtering for $2 per month and VIRUS filtering for $2 per month or both SPAM and VIRUS filtering for $3 per month. I highly recommend the VIRUS filtering. Although no device or program can guarantee 100% accuracy, it does an extremely good job of stopping infected messages from being downloaded on your computer, unless, you make the decision to override the filters. Our SPAM filtering does a good job too, but there are other weapons to battle SPAM that do not cost the consumer. The following explains how you can set up your e-mail client to help you manage SPAM. Download Mozilla's free Thunderbird Email client from the Mozilla Thunderbird web site. Save the downloaded file on your desktop, close all programs after downloading and run the install program you downloaded by double clicking it. After you have installed the Thunderbird Email client, open Thunderbird and go to Tools / Message Filters. Create a new filter, e.g. SPAM or Junk. Select “Match all of the following” and from the drop down menu select (1) “From”, (2) “isn't in my address book” and (3) “Personal Address Book”. In the lower portion of the window under “Perform these actions:”, check:
This will filter all incoming messages, from senders not in your address book, to your Trash (or Junk) folder and mark them as read instead of all messages being collected in your Inbox. With the filter activated, the only messages you will receive in your Inbox are those which Thunderbird finds a match in your Address Book. Since I have my email client set to empty my Trash folder on exiting, I created a folder called Junk which I filter unsolicited messages to instead of my Trash folder. At my leisure, I browse through my Junk folder for any new senders I may want to add to my Address Book and delete all others. Beware... if you move unsolicited messages to your Trash folder, you may never see any new legitimate messages if your Account Server settings are marked to “Empty Trash on Exit”. I think you'll find the Thunderbird email client a user-friendly program with robust security and functionality. On a related note, I also recommend downloading the free Firefox browser, also found on the Mozilla Firefox web site. It prevents pop-ups, incorporates cookie controls and provides tabbed pages for a secure and efficient browsing experience.
